Analysis:

Past three rounds of the Torneo Clausura, Boca Juniors, Unión de Santa Fe and Rosario Central are in top of standings. Boca could barely tie while receiving Argentinos Juniors, who were prevailing 2-0 with two goals of Jorge Quinteros (young promise who has already performed in Italy), and reached the tie via Martín Palermo, who scored both, one header and one penalty kick.

Unión trashed Belgrano de Córdoba, due to a very dynamic midfield commanded by Darío Cabrol, and seem to avoid relegation if the eleven of Mario Zanabria keep the pace. Rosario beat clearly their visitors Platense, and they lead the League and advanced in Copa Conmebol.

San Lorenzo and Vélez´ draw was nothing but another brilliant performance but Paraguayan star José Luis Chilavert, maybe the best goalkeeper in the World. The main man in Vélez structure rejected Alberto Acosta of San Lorenzo in the 92th minute and avoided a sure defeat.

The upset of the weekend belongs to mighty River Plate, defeated by Estudiantes de La Plata. Magnificent goal with two dribbles and superb shot by forward Luciano Galletti, another product of the wiz of u-17 and u-20 José Néstor Pekerman. River misses Marcelo Salas badly, and all the team looked insecure, so the glory days of Ramón Díaz maybe coming to an end.

The funny thing of the weekend: while Independiente and Racing Club were disputing the traditional Derby of Avellaneda, something strange happened. Visitors Racing were 2-0 with courtesy of Argentine international Marcelo Delgado and former Sampdoria Ángel "Matute" Morales; but in the 39th minute the electricity was suddenly shut off, leaving the enormous stadium of Independiente in the dark, due to a failure on one of the keyboards. And the game was then suspended by referee Francisco Lamolina.

The game is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, but there´s a rumour that the incident was provoqued on purpose, since visitors Racing were humiliating Independiente with extraordinaire performances by Diego Latorre (world class forward former Fiorentina, Tenerife, Salamanca and Boca Juniors) and Delgado.

Lanús, current vicechampions, may be the only leaders if they can beat Newell´s Old Boys. Lanús is presenting Hugo Morales from the 1st minute, now that the young protegee of Daniel Passarella has fully overcome his serious injury.
