FA Carling Premiership

Charlton (1) 5      Southampton (0) 0
Robinson 3          (Jones sent off 66)
Redfearn 46
Mendonca 67 (pen), 81, 89

Welcome to the Premiership Charlton Athletic!!! There first home game in the
top flight for 41 years at The Valley and they crushed Saints. They were
already well on top before the dismissal of the Saints keeper, after which
Clive Mendonca helped himself to a hat trick

Chelsea (1) 1        Newcastle (1) 1
Babayaro 25          Anderssen 43

Honours even at The Bridge in a game which saw Newcastle have just two shots
on target but also saw Stuart Pearce dominate at the back. Both sides still
looking for their first win.

Derby (0) 0          Wimbledon (0) 0

Goalless, what can I say???

Leicester (2) 2      Everton (0) 0
Cottee 11
Izzet 36

No last minute disaster this week for Leicester as Everton were easily beaten
at Filbert Street. Two first half goals and apparently in should have been
more.

Liverpool (0) 0      Arsenal (0) 0

Points shared again at Anfield. The second half was better than the first but
neither club could quite find the finish required.

Nottm Forest (1) 1   Coventry (0) 0
Stone 51

Good day for the promoted clubs as Forest also collect a useful victory
against a Coventry side that beat Chelsea last week.

Spurs (0) 0          Sheff Wed (2) 3
                     Atherton 27
                     Di Canio 35
                     Hinchcliffe 78

What`s happening at White Hart Lane??? David Ginola was man of the match by
all accounts yet the rest of the side never looked like scoring. Take nothing
away from Wednesday though, Di Canio`s goal was a cracker.

West Ham (0) 0       Man United (0) 0

According to George Best, the best thing about this game was the final
whistle. `Diabolical` was the phrase he used to describe the game.

Sunday:

Aston Villa 3 (Joachim 6, Charles 52, Thompson 78) Middlesbrough 1 (Beck 62)

Playing Monday: Leeds United V Blackburn
