Goalless Glasgow derby but a pulsating game nonetheless that only lack goals.
An eventful first half with Rangers and in particular Gabrielle Amato guilty
of some glaring misses. He miscontrolled whilst clear on the edge of the area
and then minutes later he had a free header from six yards out following a
fine cross by Wallace, and he succeded in finding the Celtic fans behind the
goal. Jorge Albertz also drilled a chance inches wide, an effort that was
similar to Craig Burley`s chance at the other end. Celtic`s best chance was a
Larsson header from an inch perfect cross by Jackson that was brilliantly
turned onto the bar by Charbonneir in the Rangers goal. The second half saw
Rangers miss as many chances as they could, Albertz set up Wallace who took
too long and shot wide under pressure, the same two then set up Amato who was
stopped by a combination of the defence and Gould, Charlie Miller headed into
the ground only to see the ball bounce over and Albertz had two scorching
shots wide. Late on Celtic woke up and Jackson blazed over, McKinlay had an
effort superbly tipped away by the home keeper and in stoppage time Alan
Stubbs hit a belting attempt that took a coat of paint off the bar as it went
inches over. Rangers stay top but only just.
